Pre-Professional Program

B.S. in Mortuary Science

The degree program consists of course pre-requisites and a professional component along with the completion of the University General Education Requirements leading to the Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science. Students entering as freshmen and intending to pursue a degree in mortuary science must complete the pre-professional program offered by the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Science. The admission requirements for these colleges are those for regular undergraduate admission to the University. The National Board Examination is required for degree completion.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM

A minimum of 68 credits is required. All pre-professional course work must be completed with an overall GPA of 2.5 or better to be considered for regular admission to professional program. If the applicant is entering the program with a prior baccalaureate degree, the University General Education Requirement is waved but the Professional Program Pre-requisites listed below must be satisfied. Please contact the program directly if you intend to be licensed outside the state of Michigan or you wish to receive a community college curriculum guide. Credit granted by examination (CLEP) is acceptable.

Pre-professional course work will include the Professional Pre-requisites and the University General Education requirements. These courses must be completed with a grade of 'C' or better.

Electives to complete the 68 hours requirement for admission to the Mortuary Science Program.

NOTE: Several of the Professional Program Pre-requisites may also satisfy the University General Educational requirements. You should consult your advisor.

Applicants with a prior baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution will be deemed to have satisfied all of the General Education requirements and the 68 hour pre-requisite, however; the applicant is required to satisfy the above specified Professional Program Pre-requisites.

No more than 64 credits may be transferred from a 2-year college program.
